Help Sonia over the finish line
For the past two years, Sonia has been training for the London marathon and she needs your support to help her cross the finish line and raise funds for our young writers in the process!
Sonia’s running the London marathon this Sunday (3rd October) so that young people in Hoxton can let their own imaginations run wild! Our creative writing workshops are completely for young people in our community and fundraising ensures they can stay that way, inspiring the next generation of storytellers.
Sonia is fundraising for her run via Virgin Money Giving, and you can show your support with a donation here.
A marathon is no mean feat – 26.2 miles is the equivalent of, laid side by side…
- Just over 2 million sugar-dusted bogies
- 10,000 giant peaches from James and the Giant Peach
- 5,768 big friendly giants (lying down, head to toe)
- 90,000 invisible cats (one if which you can visit in-person at Hoxton Street Monster Supplies)
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, young writers have had the chance to create public art in the streets, cafes and treetops of Hoxton Street, written audio plays to be recorded by professional actors and broadcast on the BBC, and dreamt up dozens of poems and short stories.
If you’d like to support Sonia’s marathon run – and help ensure our creative writing sessions remain free for all young people – donate to her Virgin Giving page here. Thank you!
Good luck on Sunday, Sonia! From all your friends at the Ministry!
